Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2024 is now open and runs until 26th May on the bank holiday weekend. The Welcome Weekend has already been a great success with crowds turning out to watch giant puppets roaming the streets – but don’t worry, you haven’t missed all the fun! There are tons of free events going on this week and next so be sure to check them out and head to Norfolk for some family days out during the school hols.
Highlights from this year’s festival include world premieres from Circolombia with their new show Corazón and the new eight-hour epic organ composition 268 years of reverb, composed by Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood.
If you’re a fan of dance like me, you might want to check out the UK premiere of Rachel Ní Bhraonáin’s high-octane dance theatre piece, MOSH or head to the Adnams Spielgeltent to join in with some of the fun Ragroof tea dances, where you can try out ballroom, swing and latin dances.
Also, if you can’t make it to the festival over the next couple of weeks, there are plenty more visual art events that run beyond the end of the festival. These include Roger Ackling’s Sunlight and Daniel & Clara’s photographic images at the Norwich Castle Museum & Art Gallery, photography exhibitions and What Is Truth? at the Sainsbury Centre until August, showcases at East Gallery, part of the Norwich University of the Arts, and Antony Gormley’s sculptures at Houghton Hall until October.
Listings for the full programme for Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2024 can be found on nnfestival.org.uk so be sure to check that out.
