In honour of National Afternoon Tea Week which begins on Monday 11th August, I’ve gathered together a round-up of all my favourite afternoon-tea recipes from the essential scones to tasty cupcakes. Ever since the 7th Duchess of Bedford started serving tea and cake at 4pm back in 1840, afternoon tea has become a quintessentially British pastime and here are a selection of recipes from my blog that you’ll need to celebrate this tradition next week:
My favourite recipe for cheese scones and rich fruit scones
Make some bite-size cheeky chocolate cake pops
How about a slice of decadent red velvet cake with buttercream frosting?
Make white chocolate & strawberry cheesecake in individual portions
How to make the perfect pastry base for your quiche or flan
The national celebration for Afternoon Tea Week lasts until the 17th August so make sure you at least have a nibble on a scone and a drop of tea at some point during the week!

haha I know what you mean – I need no excuse to have afternoon tea either! 🙂
We need Afternoon Tea Week here in the US. Of course, at *my* house *every* week is afternoon tea week! I even have a Teatime category on my Recipes index page. Give lots of afternoon teas, some inside and some out in the garden in the gazebo.
Of course! I’m baking cookies for myself this week 😉
I had no idea there was a whole week for appreciating afternoon tea!! Is it ok to have afternoon tea by yourself haha?!
