Don’t forget this Month’s inspiration challenge – vintage sewing machines

There’s still plenty of time to get crafting and take part in this month’s Inspiration Challenge – the theme for May is Vintage Sewing Machines. This theme is based on my recent experience of my trusty old Jones sewing machine finally conking out after decades of use.  I’ve had to replace it and as much as I like my whizzy new machine, I can’t help thinking back to how sturdy and well, stylish old sewing machines were, so here are some photos of my back-up one-stitch-option Seamstress sewing machine (which did fantastically well keeping up with my tutu-sewing work while I waited for my new machine to arrive!) and my good friend Meg has loaned me her grandma’s old hand-powered antique Singer so that I can use them for this month’s inspiration challenge!

So please take part in this month’s challege and have a go a creating something inspired by vintage sewing machines. I know a lot of us rely on (and love!) our antique sewing machines, so hopefully it’s a challenge that’s close to our hearts :D. If you need your antiques repaired or want to sell something on to someone who will cherish it, check out KalmarAntiques.com.au repairs & valuations service for all kinds of antiques, jewellery or watches. In the meantime, I’ll be holding on to my vintage sewing machine a little longer and hope to get it repaired in the future!

I can’t wait to see what you’ve all been making and Katy has already tweeted me with a photo of her fantastic vintage sewing machine card inspired by this month’s challenge, so here’s a sneak peek:

Let me know how you get on and if you rustle something  up please tweet me or email me your photos of your creations by the 28th of May to [email protected]. I will share photos of everyone’s crafts at the start of June and I will include your site link if you have one, so make sure you send it! As Lucy says it doesn’t matter if you’re a novice or experienced and it’s not a competition – the aim is to just have a bit of fun and share your creations with other like-minded people!
