I’m SO excited to let you all know that I’m now a contributor to Reclaim magazine and will be writing the Design Icon feature each month eee! So, when it came to choosing an iconic design to write about for my first ever column, I naturally started with Picquot Ware.
They always say ‘write what you know’ don’t they? So, I couldn’t ignore my instinct to talk about this British brand with as many people as possible. I sat at my laptop and blurted out all the knowledge I’d gained over the years and then carefully spent many hours refining my excited ramblings. The piece has been published in Issue 30 and it’s on sale now! I just hope Reclaim’s readers enjoy the piece as much as I enjoyed writing it!
You may not know, but a lot of people end up on my blog for one particular reason: Picquot Ware. If you google this vintage tea set, you’ll probably end up on my website because it’s one of those brands that has fallen by the wayside and there’s not really much information out there. I wrote a post on polishing my car-boot find a few years ago, and was surprised when this attracted a rather impressive number of Picquot Ware fans.
Since then, a lovely little community has sprung up in the comments section of my previous posts, and owners have helped each other with cleaning tips, restoration advice and sourcing sets. And now, I’ve had the chance to share more about this British manufacturer in Reclaim magazine. I couldn’t be happier.
Please do have a read of my first ever Design Icon column for Reclaim and let me know what you think in the comments below – you can buy Issue 30 online here or find it in WH Smith – fingers crossed that you like it!
