Fancy making your own neon snowflake light to decorate your home for Christmas? I’ve shared the full DIY project along with photos of my own minimalist snowy white festive bedroom…
As you’ve probably gathered from my previous interiors blog posts, I’m somewhat of a minimalist. Especially when it comes to my bedroom. Ever since I was a teenager, all I ever wanted was to paint my room white and live in a clean, tidy, white box. And now that I’ve renovated my own home, I finally have the white bedroom of my dreams.
I usually dress it up a little for Christmas (have a look at my photos last year’s tartan festive decor) but, seeing as I got some new white bedding in the summer and a plump new eco duvet from The Fine Bedding Company this month, I decided to go with a snowy all-white theme this Christmas.
Naturally, I wanted to bring a DIY element into the room, so I decided that this would be the year that I attempted to make a neon light – and what better shape to light up at Christmas than a snowflake? I bought some glowing white EL Wire, stocked up on glitter spray paint and set to work.
I’ve shared the full step-by-step tutorial for this neon snowflake light on my blog so be sure to check it out. It’s easy enough to DIY yourself and it shouldn’t take you much longer than a couple of hours to complete.
I positioned the snowflake in the window for a while so that the neon glow could be seen from outdoors. This EL wire technique can be used to create any shape you like and it’s a great way to create unique Christmas lights to decorate your home – no-one else will have festive lights like yours!
I decided to use the snowflake as bedside light so I propped it up on my DIY bedside table, but you could add a hanging hook to the back and hang it up on any wall of your home. You just need to be able to access the battery pack to turn it off and on, so bear that in mind.
A fluffy runner that mum bought for me softens the harshness of all the white and I popped some fairy lights on my sparkling iridescent white mini tree to bring a little twinkliness into the space. And I couldn’t resist throwing my DIY Christmas jumper cushion onto the bed.
