The festive holidays are coming; there are beautiful fairy lights everywhere, sparking frost on the ground, and there’s a magical feeling in the air. That sounds like the perfect time to propose! If you’re considering getting engaged to your partner this Christmas, here are some ways you can make it extra special…

Perfect proposal plan 1 – Christmas Day
Firstly, you’ve got Christmas Day. If you choose to propose on the big day, the date will be memorable – you’ll never forget the anniversary of your festive proposal!
Plus, jewellery is always a fabulously luxurious present, so a sparkling ring has got to be the ultimate Christmas gift, right? Now’s the time to start browsing beautiful diamond engagement rings to get the perfect present for your loved one.
You can package it in a bauble and hang it on the tree, or you can wrap it in a larger box with a silk bow, to throw them off the scent of seeing a ring-sized jewellery box. Or you could add it amongst their Christmas stocking gifts if you’d like to propose first thing on Christmas morning – we expect to see small presents in our stocking but we’d never imagine that tiny box would be a stunning ring!
If you’re part of a big family, it can be lovely to share the occasion with them too. You’re already gathered together and can break the happy news to them straight away. There’s probably a bottle of bubbly already chilling in the fridge too!

Perfect proposal plan 2 – Twixtmas holiday
The second option is to propose during a festive getaway. Your gift to your partner can be tickets for a Twixtmas holiday for that period between Christmas and New Year. You’ve both already got some time off work during that week, so you can head away to a lovely, romantic destination.
Perhaps you could hop on the train to Paris to propose in the city of love? Or fly to a European Christmas market town to be surrounded by fairy lights and spruce trees as you propose. Maybe a stay at a Scottish castle could see you strolling through the snowy highlands before you get down on one knee?
Whatever holiday you decide on, your partner will believe that the break itself is their Christmas gift, rather than expecting a proposal. So, all you need to do is choose a lovely moment, looking at a beautiful view, to pop the question.

Perfect proposal plan 3 – New Year’s Eve
You know they’re the love of your life, so why prolong the proposal to ‘sometime in the future’? You can get the year off to the best possible start by making them your fiancée as the new year begins, and can enjoy planning your wedding throughout the coming year.
If you’re going out to a party or event, everyone around you will be in a celebratory mood, smiling, singing and laughing. You’re already enjoying the best party of your life, so what could make it even better? It’s the ideal time to ask them to marry you.
You’ll both be dressed up for the evening and be looking your best, which adds to the glamour of the occasion. Plus, you can take beautiful photos of your engagement straight away, ready to share the news with your friends and family after the event.
And, inevitably, a glass of bubbly or a delicious cocktail will be on hand to help you celebrate as soon as the proposal has been accepted. What a great way to start the new year!
