Egg-shaped gifts for Easter that aren’t chocolate

If you want to treat a friend or family member this Easter but know that chocolate isn't their thing, here are some alternative gifts you could choose that are eggs-actly the same size and shape as an Easter egg...

Some items have been gifted

Okay, I know it’s a bit of a funny idea, but I’m thinking of giving my friends Easter gifts that look a bit like Easter eggs but that aren’t actually chocolate. That’s because I know they’re not into chocolate (dairy allergies), but I still want to give them a gift to celebrate the season.

A bit like the TV show ‘Is It Cake?’, I’ve been trying to find gifts that would be suitable for kids, teens and adults for Easter that look like they could be Easter eggs but that reveal themselves as a different, longer-lasting gift when unpackaged.

Of course, if your pal or family member loves chocolate, I’m sure they’d love to receive a traditional chocolate egg, but for those who cannot eat chocolate – or simply don’t wish to – here are some alternative ideas that could pass as an Easter egg from a distance:

For kids and teens

Firstly, take a look at this Stitch controller holder. It’s packaged in a box that’s about the same size and shape as a nice big Easter egg, so it’ll look like you’re handing over an egg at first glance.

Then they’ll be surprised to find that, inside the usual egg aperture on the front, there’s a cute Stitch character in place of the egg! Something that’ll last much longer than an egg and it’s also a little practical gift for their desk too.

It’s actually a Disney-branded holder for their phone or for a gaming pad, made by Cable Guys and there are plenty of other characters within the collection, so I’m sure you’ll find a suitable gift for your teenager in this range – and they’ll only realise it’s not an Easter egg until they unwrap it.

For techy grown-ups

If you’re giving an Easter gift to a grown-up, it’s likely that they’re not going to be too fussed about receiving a chocolate egg. However, they’ll definitely be happy to receive something techy that’s shaped like an Easter egg.

This Connex product by Krafted is a data transfer and multi-charger connector, which is ideal for use with all kinds of Smart devices, laptops and phones. But, for the purpose of this gift guide, another exciting element is that it comes in egg-shaped oval cardboard packaging!

Likewise, the Willow plant care kit is shaped like a box of chocolates or perhaps a tray of creme eggs. The box actually contains a sensor that sits in the pot of their house plant and connects to an app on a smartphone to share details of what that specific plant requires: light, feed, water and so on. Very clever!

Tasty treats

We can’t really let Easter pass us by without having some kind of tasty treat, can we? But it doesn’t necessarily have to be a chocolate egg – a lovely hamper of snacks from Tokyo Treat would be ideal. The box is a similar shape and size to a large easter egg pack, but there’s SO much more in the box. This is a great option for someone who’s not fussed about chocolate but would love a different kind of snack because the gift box is packed full of individually packaged treats all the way from Tokyo.

It contains a mix of sweet and savoury products and, if you subscribe to the monthly treat box, you’ll receive a batch of entirely different snacks with each delivery. I previously chose this as a gift for my brother and my husband and they both loved the variety of tastes inside the pack.

For crafters

Okay, there’s just one more thing I can think of that looks like an Easter egg but isn’t chocolate: A big ball of wool. As a new knitter, I’m massively keen on growing my own collection of yarn, so I would personally love to receive a ball of wool for Easter!

My friend has been teaching me how to knit and I’ve also been following the online knitting tutorials from LearntoKnitOnline. I’m so excited to try out new yarns and start new projects, so I’m sure a big ball of wool would make a lovely Easter gift for the crafter in your life.

I hope these ideas have given you some inspiration for Easter gifts that aren’t chocolate but that still kind of look the same size and shape as an Easter egg. Let me know what alternative Easter ideas you’ve found for your own friends and family in the comments below, I’d love to hear your gifting plans…
