After researching Picquot Ware for many years and sharing my findings here on my blog, I’ve been keeping a keen eye out for more examples of these vintage serveware products.
So I was excited to see a set of Picquot Ware appear on a BBC television show – Antiques Road Trip. This episode was first broadcast on Monday 18th November 2024 at 16:30pm and is titled ‘Baroque Besties Back on the Road’. It’s from series 29 and is episode 11 of 20.

I’ve tried to take some photos of the episode on my TV (so please excuse the quality, haha!), which I will share below.
The episode was set in Yorkshire, UK. The two antiques experts, Roo Irvine and Mark Hill, took a road trip around these counties in the north of England in a 1990s Volvo to hunt out vintage pieces to resell at auction, in the hope of making a profit.

The tea set was up for sale in an antiques store for £35GBP – which seems like a bargain price to me. It included what looks like a TC4 teapot, a JC4 hot water pot, a CB milk jug, a lidded SB sugar bowl and R6/1 serving tray.
All the pieces were made from the Picquot Ware company’s famous ‘mirror-finish’ polished alloy Magnailium and the pots were fitted with the original classic wooden handles.

The experts snapped up the tea set to sell on at an auction at the end of the TV show, and I was sure that they would make a profit. Surely someone in the auction room would want to own a beautiful original Picquot Ware tea set?
However, when the hammer fell on the auction, the bids had only reached £28GBP for the whole tea set. That meant a £7 loss for the experts, but someone who was shopping at the auction that day certainly got a bargain!

I find it really interesting to see Picquot Ware on TV. It looks perfectly retro yet somehow contemporary – it wouldn’t be out of place in a kitchenware section of a swish modern-day department store.
Plus, whenever it appears on the television, it brings visibility of the range to a whole new audience, people who might never have seen it before. Hopefully, their interest will bring them to this blog post and they can enjoy all the fabulous stories that the community of Picquot Ware owners have shared in the comments of my other articles.
